Sonoma: The 2007 harvest is looking to be fairly quick and compact. Sauvignon Blanc is about 50 percent complete, though the yield has been reported to be from 15 percent to 50 percent lower than 2006, according to Phil Bilodeau of the Sonoma County Vintners. Chardonnay harvest started in the Russian River Valley last week, with Sonoma Valley and Alexander Valley close behind. Picking of Pinot Noir started this week and will probably be finished in 10 days; harvest of Zinfandel also began this week.
