This new 2008 vintage wine from Dark Horse wins first place, hands down, in the race for quality and value.
All Sonoma County fruit is artfully combined in this savory blend of Zinfandel (60%) and Syrah (40%). This wine is a leader of one of the industry’s hottest blending trends, and for good reason. An enticing nose from the Zinfandel leads to a full mouth of fresh sweet fruit. The Syrah adds a second dimension of deeper fruit, carrying a little spiciness towards a smooth and very satisfying finish. Delectable, bright and rich, but not flabby.
Moderate (14.7%) alcohol and good acidity make this wine a great match to barbequed and spicy foods, or any tomato-based soup or marinara.
Only $20! Those who enjoyed the Second Notch in the Locals Wine Club program a couple of years back will remember how quickly this one sold out. So saddle on up, and get this wonderful wine riding towards your lips today!
Also newly released is the 2008 Dark Horse Zinfandel. Hailing from the Treborcé Vineyard in the Dry Creek Valley, this stunning wine is a worthy followup to the 2007, a Locals Tasting Room favorite. A little fruitier than the prior vintage, the wine is rich in jammy black cherry, intense wild berry, smoke and licorice. It has provocative cinnamon and clove aromas, followed by zesty cracked white and black pepper at finish. 8% Petite Sirah strengthens the color and mouthfeel. Another odds-on favorite to please! $34.
